RAMALLAH, Saturday, August 08, 2020 (WAFA) - The Israeli occupation army murder of a Palestinian woman yesterday in the northern West Bank city of Jenin hit the front-page headlines in the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
They said the army shot dead Dalia Samoudi, 23, at dawn on Friday when she was in her home.
The main front-page headline in Al-Ayyam daily said: "A young mother was shot dead by Israeli occupation soldiers in Jenin while she was preparing to feed her child at dawn."
The other two dailies, al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida, covered this story on their front page and added that Israeli occupation forces attacked Palestinians throughout the West Bank who were resisting the occupation and the illegal settlement activities on their lands.
The main front-page story in Al-Hayat al-Jadida touched on the situation in Beirut following the destructive explosion at the harbor and how Palestinian members of the Red Crescent in Beirut rushed to the rescue and the destroyed buildings after the explosion as if their children were there.
It said Palestinians lit candles at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem in solidarity with the Lebanese people.
The other two dailies also continued coverage of the Beirut tragedy and its aftermath.
The papers also touched on the novel coronavirus pandemic and the toll it is leaving on Palestinians in the occupied territories, particularly with Ministry of Health announcing two deaths and 514 new cases yesterday.
Al-Ayyam said four corona-related deaths and 220 new corona cases were recorded in Jerusalem, according to a local physician.
Al-Quds quoted the Russian Health Minister saying that the first vaccine against coronavirus will be for doctors and the elderly.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said President Mahmoud Abbas received at his Ramallah headquarters last night a delegation from the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality in Israel during which the President stressed the rejection of the dictates that try to undermine the rights of the Palestinian people.
It also quoted former US ambassador Martin Indyk warning of continuous conflict in the Middle East for decades to come and that the so-called US deal of the century is unfair while the Israeli annexation plans undermine the two-state solution.
Al-Quds quoted former US National Security Advisor John Bolton acknowledging the diminishing chances and feasibility of the deal of the century.
Al-Ayyam said the launching of incendiary and explosive balloons from the eastern Gaza Strip has raised tension along the borders.
Three youths died by drowning in the Rafah and Netanya seas yesterday, said the daily.
