HEBRON, June 16, 2026 (WAFA) – Governor of Hebron Khaled Dudin said that the decision by extremist Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to cancel the Hebron Agreement is a “terrorist decision issued by a gang.”
In a statement, the governor said that Hebron is an occupied territory and does not fall under the decisions of a “terrorist government”, stressing that the Ibrahimi Mosque and the Old City are registered on UNESCO’s World Heritage List as purely Palestinian heritage.
He added that the measures taken by this “gang” are rejected and will not change the reality, calling on Palestinians to increase their presence at the Ibrahimi Mosque and in the Old City.
He also called on the international community, which remains silent in the face of colonists’ terror, to speak out and uphold the truth.
During an emergency meeting held at the Hebron Municipality headquarters on Tuesday evening, institutions and public events in Hebron reaffirmed their full support for Hebron Municipality and for all political, legal, and popular efforts aimed at confronting the occupation’s decision to strip the municipality of its powers over the Ibrahimi Mosque and the Old City.
The meeting was held at the invitation of the Mayor of Hebron, Yousef al-Jaabari, with the participation of representatives of official and civil institutions, national forces, security services, and tribal figures.
