RAMALLAH, Wednesday, July 29, 2020 (WAFA) – The heavy heat stress is set to continue to affect the region today, paving the way to hot to very hot and dry conditions in daytime and relatively hot conditions in nighttime, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
No change is expected in temperature, which remains 6°C above the seasonal average. Light to moderate westerly to northwesterly wind blows with occasional gusts. Sea waves are low.
Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 34°C and a low of 23°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 33°C and a low of 22°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 42°C and a low of 29°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 33°C and a low of 25°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
The equally heavy heat stress is expected to affect the region on Thursday.
The heat stress is set to abate on Friday, causing temperature to drop and approach 4°C above the seasonal average and paving the way to relatively hot conditions in mountainous districts and hot conditions in other districts in daytime.
Weather in nighttime is relatively mild in mountainous districts and relatively hot in other districts.
PMD warns people against direct exposure to sunlight for long period, particularly from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and setting fire to dry grassy areas.
