RAMALLAH, Friday, July 24, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine Thursday evening reinstated the nighttime and weekend lockdown on the occupied territories to rein in the rising coronavirus cases.
Under the general lockdown, travel is prohibited from Thursday 8:00 PM to Sunday 6:00 AM in and between all governorates, and only pharmacies and bakeries are allowed to open.
Spokesman for the Interior Ministry Ghassan Nimer stated that the government’s decision to reinstate the weekend lockdown is designed to prevent all forms of social gatherings and visits, and allow the Health Ministry’s Preventive Medicine to record all suspected COVID-19 cases.
According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 11,875.
Out of the 11,875 cases, 9,669 are recorded in the West Bank, 75 in the Gaza Strip and 2,131 in East Jerusalem.
Recoveries have totaled 3,394, including 674 in East Jerusalem, and the death toll reached 70, leaving a total of 8,411 active cases.
