TULKARM, December 3, 2012 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers Monday shot and killed a Palestinian near the northern West Bank city of Tulkarm following an apparent car accident between an army jeep and the killed Palestinian’s car, according to witnesses.
They said that an army jeep collided with a Palestinian car driven by Hatem Shadid, 40, from the Tulkarm area village of Allar, and when Shadid came out of the car, the soldiers from the jeep opened fire at him and killed him.
Witnesses said the Israeli army closed off the area and prevented a Red Crescent ambulance from reaching it.
Residents of Allar said a large Israeli army force entered the village shortly after the incident and went straight to Shadid’s home.
The Israeli army claimed Shadid attempted to attack the soldiers with an axe prompting them to shoot him dead.
Witnesses said the soldiers opened fire at Shadid and killed him in cold blood after he came out of the car.
Shadid was married with children.
