Tens of thousands rally in Brussels to “Draw the Red Line” against Israeli genocide in Gaza

BRUSSELS, June 15, 2025 (WAFA) – Tens of thousands of citizens, civil society organizations, trade unions, and associations took part in a mass demonstration in the Belgian capital, Brussels, on Sunday, under the slogan “We Draw the Red Line,” in solidarity with Palestine and in condemnation of the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

The organizers had stated that they expected thousands to draw a “symbolic red line” against the war in Gaza. “With a red line – a chain of thousands of people dressed in red – we aimed to create a powerful visual and moral statement,” they said. The demonstration conveyed a clear message: all red lines in Gaza had long been crossed, and silence was no longer acceptable.

Participants formed a massive human chain in the heart of the capital, wearing red to symbolize the red line that people refuse to let be crossed in the face of the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.

The march raised clear slogans condemning genocide, ethnic cleansing, the use of starvation as a weapon, indiscriminate bombing, and the systematic destruction of homes and residential neighborhoods. It also denounced the policy of impunity and the ongoing Israeli crimes against civilians, calling for the accountability of European governments that continue to support the occupation and overlook these crimes despite their claims to defend human rights.

The demonstration reiterated key demands: ending the Israeli occupation, halting arms exports to Israel, imposing immediate sanctions, and supporting the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

Sunday’s protest is part of a broader wave of solidarity actions across Belgium over the past year and a half, organized by dozens of Belgian and international groups in support of the Palestinian cause.
