Israeli onslaught on Tulkarem and its refugee camps continues amid widespread destruction and displacement

TULKAREM, June 15, 2025 (WAFA) - On Sunday, Israeli occupation forces continued their relentless onslaught on the city of Tulkarem and its two refugee camps, marking 140 consecutive days of aggression, including 127 days of sustained aggression against Nur Shams refugee camp.

The ongoing offensive is marked by a sharp escalation on the ground, a suffocating blockade, repeated raids, and systematic detentions that have affected nearly every part of the city and its surrounding areas.

Demolition operations in Tulkarem camp have persisted for ten consecutive days, focusing on multiple neighborhoods. Israeli bulldozers have demolished numerous residential buildings as part of a wider plan to destroy 106 structures across both camps, with 58 located in Tulkarem Camp alone. This includes over 250 housing units and dozens of commercial establishments.

In Nur Shams camp, Israeli forces have demolished over 20 of the 48 residential buildings slated for demolition in recent weeks, under the pretext of opening roads, an action aimed at altering the camp’s character and erasing its physical structure.

To date, the offensive has resulted in the killing of 13 Palestinians, including a child and two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant. Dozens more have been injured or detained, with widespread destruction inflicted on homes, infrastructure, commercial properties and vehicles.

According to recent estimates, over 5,000 families—more than 25,000 people—have been forcibly displaced from the two camps. Approximately 400 homes have been completely destroyed, while another 2,573 have sustained partial damage. Both camps remain sealed off by earth mounds, effectively turning them into areas nearly devoid of life.
