JENIN, June 16, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces have transformed dozens of Palestinian homes in several towns and villages across the Jenin Governorate into military outposts over the past week, leading to the forced displacement of families and widespread disruption of daily life.
In the village of Aneen, west of Jenin, Israeli troops stormed two homes belonging to the Yaseen family last Friday, forcibly evicting five families—approximately 50 individuals—and converting the homes into military posts, according to Mohammad Issa, head of the local village council.
Issa reported that the Israeli military continues to raid the village on a daily basis, deploying armored vehicles, erecting roadblocks, and interrogating residents in the streets.
“The presence of soldiers inside residential homes has created a climate of fear and insecurity,” said Issa. “Commercial activity has slowed dramatically as a result.”
In nearby Rummana, Israeli forces have turned 11 homes in the western, elevated part of the village into military positions over the past four days, according to municipal head Hassan Sbeihat.
He stated that the affected families were forced to seek shelter with relatives, with no clear indication of when they might return.
“Israeli infantry patrols are roaming the streets, firing live ammunition and tear gas, shutting down businesses, and harassing residents,” Sbeihat said.
In the village of Nazlat al-Sheikh Zaid, soldiers seized two additional homes—belonging to residents Wajdi Fadl Saeed Zaid and Omar Hassan al-Bari—and expelled the occupants before turning the properties into outposts, said Aziz Zaid, head of the village council.
He added that soldiers continue to conduct house-to-house searches and physically assault residents. In one incident, a high school student was blindfolded and detained for two hours before being released. Another resident was beaten while walking through the village.
Zaid also reported that Israeli forces closed the western entrance to the village, the main road, and several businesses, including a pharmacy and grocery store, tightening restrictions on the local population.
