RAMALLAH, October 12, 2011(WAFA) - In an effort by the Palestinian official media to convert into public broadcasting media, US communication expert met Wednesday with his Palestinian counterparts to discuss ways to restructure the official media.
Edward Coltman, senior director of communications for the corporation of public broadcasting (CPB), started Monday a study visit in the Palestinian Territory to share his expertise and studies in managing public broadcasting.
Sponsored by the American government Coltman met with Palestinian officials where they discussed the best ways to restructure the official media.
After meeting with WAFA’s staff, Coltman told its reporter, “I have met such a variety of government officials, media outlet executives, working journalists and journalism students…many of the people with whom I met t were interested in moving from official media into public broadcasting media.”
“I was invited by the US state department as part of their speakers program, which is not intended to reflect American policy but to provide from American society experts and involved people who may be able to offer advice experience and what not to people who are trying to do new things, in my case new things with respect to media, I’ve been with public broadcasting in the US for 28 years,” he said
Before joining CPB, Coltman worked as a reporter for US daily newspapers.
