RAMALLAH, September, 21, 2010 (WAFA)- The Ministry of Agriculture determined the timing of olive harvest and operating mills for 2010.
In a press release, the ministry announced that olive harvest starts in October 10 in Tulkarem, Qalqilya, Gaza, Northen and Central Gaza, Khan Yunis and Rafah provinces. As for the rest, it will start in October 15.
It also explained that operating the mills in all governorate, begins after three days of the olive harvest deadline, once obtaining the necessary permit from the Departments of Agriculture in the provinces. although they must delay the date of the olive harvest of certain types until the end of October 2010, in order to get well oil proportion , hinting at the possibility that the council can delay any time of harvesting after the coordination with directorate of Agriculture in the provinces.
The General Administration of Guidance and Rural Development is implementing a campaign aimed at producing excellent olive oil. That measures with world standards, by holding workshops and lectures in all governorates, about the importance of cleaving to deadlines of picking fruit, as well as the proper methods of olive squeeze and oil storage, in order to increase our competitiveness in world markets. It also held meetings with NGO’s and international organizations durian the industry of olive to unite efforts and extend activities to promote this vital sector.
