NEW YORK, July 13, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned of a sharp increase in malnutrition cases in Gaza, particularly among children and vulnerable groups, amid a severe shortage of essential medical supplies.
In a statement published Sunday on its official website, the agency said its clinics in Gaza have recorded a notable surge in malnutrition cases since the start of the tight Israeli blockade in March.
UNRWA stressed that restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid, including food and medicine, are worsening the already dire health and living conditions of civilians in the besieged enclave.
The agency called on the international community to urgently ensure the delivery of life-saving supplies and to act decisively to end the deepening humanitarian crisis.
UNRWA warned that the ongoing collapse of healthcare infrastructure, combined with soaring poverty levels and food insecurity, is pushing the population—especially children and women—toward a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian emergency.
