13 UNRWA Advisory Commission members condemn Israel's seizure of agency facilities in occupied Jerusalem

NEW YORK, August 27, 2026 (WAFA) — Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, the European Union, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom on Thursday reaffirmed their support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and condemned the Israeli seizure of the agency's facilities in occupied East Jerusalem.

In a joint statement, the 13 members of the UNRWA Advisory Commission strongly condemned the unlawful entry into UNRWA's Kalandia Training Center by Israeli occupation forces and the seizure of UNRWA installations in East Jerusalem on August 25.

The diplomatic representations stressed that United Nations premises are protected under the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations and international law, and must be respected.

They called for immediate and full compliance with Israel’s obligations toward the United Nations, allowing UNRWA to carry out its mandated activities without interference.

The countries and the European Union further called on Israel to honor its international obligations and immediately halt all disruptions to UNRWA's activities and operations.
