RAMALLAH, August 23, 2010 (WAFA)- The head of the Negotiations Affairs Department of the PLO, Dr. Saeb Erekat, said that if Israel continued its settlement activities, they would have decided to suspend the negotiations, which could not be sustained if settlement continues.

Erekat said at a news conference today that the Executive Committee of the PLO accepted the invitation to go to direct negotiations based on the statement of the Quartet decision to resume direct negotiations.

He pointed out that the Quartet statement, issued on the twentieth of this month, includes looking into final status issues, and urged both sides to exercise calm and restraint and to refrain from any act of provocation, any aggressive tone.
