LONDON, September 29, 2009 (WAFA)- Let Gaza Live is an evening of culture organized by Arab Women’s Association (AWA) in support of Gaza. It will take place in Royal Geographical Society in London on Friday October 9, 2009.
The evening’s varied programme will focus on the indigenous culture in Gaza, with contributions by Corin Redgrave and Kika Markham, eye-witness accounts by Dr. Mona el-Farra a public health physician from Gaza, and moving songs by Leon Rosselson, Garth Hewitt and Reem Kelani'.
“Thousands of families across the Gaza Strip lack food and shelter; schools and hospitals have been destroyed; children are suffering from malnutrition and have been scarred psychologically, if not wounded physically. The AWA has long supported us in Gaza; I hope that the British public will help them to help us in our hour of need.” Dr. Mona el-Farra said.
This event is supported by Palestine Solidarity Campaign. All proceeds will be donated to the Red Crescent Society for the Gaza Strip and the Arab Women’s Association Fund for Gaza.
AWA is a registered charity organisation, established in July 1982 by a group of Arab women residing in London. The charity’s main aim is to help the needy and under-privileged children in the Middle East.
The AWA sponsorship programme aims to provide needy children with their means of livelihood. The association achieves its aims by working in co-operation with reputable charity organisations in Lebanon and Palestine.
