WHO Commends Palestinian Efforts in Facing Virus H1N1

RAMALLAH, July 8, 2009 (WAFA)- Minister of Health Dr. Fat’hi Abu Moghli received, Wednesday, a letter from the World Health Organization (WHO),   in which the Organization commended the Ministry’s efforts exerted in facing swine flu and spreading awareness of its risks, symptoms and measures of prevention.

 

The letter, delivered by Public Health Officer Dr. Katja Schemionek, reads: “The WHO expresses its appreciation and gratitude for the efforts exerted by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, to face swine flu especially, in terms of monitoring the disease’s spreading, and following up the cases infected by the H1N1 virus.”

 

The letter affirmed that, “Palestine was the only country in the Middle East that took such commendable professional measures.” The WHO said it was ready to provide all support needed by the Ministry, as a main partner in the international efforts seeking to face the disease considered to be a big challenge for people’s health.
