RAMALLAH, April 14, 2026 (WAFA) – Presidential Advisor for Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations and Chief Justice of Palestine, Mahmoud Al-Habbash, condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ detention of former Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, Hatem Al-Bakri.

In a statement, Al-Habbash affirmed that this arbitrary detention constitutes a grave violation of international laws and conventions, stressing that such aggressive practices will not deter the Palestinian people and their institutions from carrying out their religious and national duties. Rather, he added, they will further reinforce their commitment to their rights and constants, and strengthen their resolve to continue their mission in defending holy sites and serving the community.
