GENEVA, May 16, 2009 (WAFA)- The United Nations Committee Against Torture called on Israel to reveal its secret torture centers and to put an end to their functions.
The Committee said, in a report issued yesterday, that Israel runs a secret detention and torture center, in an unknown location know ad “Facility 1391.” It added that neither the International Committee of the Red Cross nor the detainees’ lawyers or families could enter the Facility.
The Committee called to investigate the “alleges that torture and maltreatment of detainees are carried out in Facility 1391.”
The report added that Israel must investigate and reveal the existence of such centers, and demanded the announcement of the investigation results.
