RAMALLAH, May 9, 2009 (WAFA)- Palestinian Security Forces Spokesman, Adnan Al-Damiri, said, today that crimes rates in the Occupied Palestinian Territory has declined, as citizens’ recurrence to the Palestinian police to admit their complaints instead of taking “their rights by hand” has raised to 60%.
In a press conference held, today, Al-Damiri added that the Israeli occupation is the main obstacle in the face of Palestinian security and safety, stating that Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have killed 12 Palestinians and arrested 703 including 30 Palestinian security forces members, in the first quarter of 2009.
Al-Damiri declared that the Palestinian security forces have succeeded in ending a status of tremendous chaos in the OPT, and starting a new “era of security and safety for Palestinians.” He insisted that, “nobody is above the law;” Palestinian citizens have the guaranteed right to press charges against anyone that “oppresses their right to recur to the law.”
He mentioned several violations of the Palestinian law, which the Palestinian security forces managed to put an end to, and assured that they are still exerting enormous efforts to implement the rule of law in the OPT.
