JERUSALEM, March 21, 2009 (WAFA)- Israeli Occupation Authorities prevented Jerusalem, Capital of Arab Culture 2009, Celebrations in Jerusalem, where the inaugural ceremony was to be launched, jointly with Bethlehem, while Hamas militias prevented them in Gaza.

In Nazareth, said the musical band Trio Joubran, Israeli Interior Security Minister, banned the trio from performing live in the town, for the festivities. The band, which was supposed to transmit its live performance from Nazareth via video conference, made it to Bethlehem, where they played a piece of music dedicated to the soul of Palestinian Poet Mahmoud Darwish. The piece contained a recording of Mahmoud Darwish reciting verses from his last poem, Dice Player.
In the meantime, Hamas militias, said President Abbas, are preventing the ceremony from taking place.
