American Citizen Injured in Nilin

NILIN, March 14, 2009 (WAFA)- Israeli forces shot an American citizen who has been seriously injured, in a peaceful demonstration held Friday in Nilin village west of Ramallah.

A tear-gas canister hit thirty seven year old Tristan, from California in the forehead. He bled from the nose and mouth, and is currently being treated in Tel Hashomer hospital near Tel Aviv.

Eye witness Ulrika Jenson, from the International Solidarity Movement, said that 'the Israeli soldiers were standing on the hill looking over us firing tear-gas canisters straight into the crowd. Tristan was hit and fell to the ground. He had a large hole in the front of his head and his brain was visible. I tried to stop the bleeding, but he was bleeding heavily from the head, nose and mouth.'

“When an ambulance came, the Israeli soldiers refused to allow the ambulance through the checkpoint just outside the village. After five minutes of arguing with the soldiers, the ambulance passed,' added Teah Lunqvist from the International Solidarity Movement.
