Morocco Contributes $15M to Gaza Reconstruction

SHARM AL-SHEIKH, March 3, 2009 (WAFA)- The government of Morocco decided, under instructions of King Mohammed VI, to contribute $15 million to Gaza reconstruction, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taib Fassi Fihri, announced on Monday.

The minister, who was addressing the International Conference on Gaza Reconstruction, held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, said this amount is divided up as follows: $4 million dollars of donations, $3 million from Bayt Mal Al Quds agency and $8 million from the Moroccan State.

'The Moroccan people, who showed solidarity with their Palestinian brothers, contribute also through a special account opened at the initiative of his Majesty the King,' he said, adding that the Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency 'whose largest part of the budget is funded by Morocco, contributes, for its part, to this national effort.'

Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, 'supports the Palestinian people,' using all means, and reiterates today this constant support, he said.
