IOF Uproots Trees, Damages Houses in Hebron

HEBRON, February 10, 2009 (WAFA)- Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) uprooted tens of trees in Tarma village south of Hebron, and damaged a number of houses there.

Palestinian resources reported that the IOF uprooted a large number of olive trees, and other kinds of trees from lands belong to the Palestinian citizen Ahmad Ghannam, near Al-Majnouna Camp east of the village.

His son, Yousef Ghanam, described the operation as “arbitrary and vengeful”, pointing to previous similar operations of tree uprooting by IOF who claimed that there are explosives in the land. They turned out to be trash bags.

Israeli troops also attacked the house of Ahmad Ghannam and his two sons, Yousef and Hussein, and forced the family out during their search operation that lasted for almost two hours.

In the searching process, soldiers broke windows, damaged other items in the house, and blocked the road that connects the irrigation canals to the lands. The Israeli soldiers also tried to destroy three grocery stores owned by the Ghannam’s family.
