PCBS: 99.8% of Households in PT Connected to Public Electricity Network

RAMALLAH, November 24, 2008 (WAFA)- 99.8% of households in the Palestinian Territory  (PT) are connected to the public electricity network, 68.2% utilize solar energy, while 81.6% of households use normal Electricity Meter, according to the Palestinian Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) energy survey, implemented in July 2008 and published, Monday.

 

The survey provides data on the main indicators of energy for different energy types (electricity, petroleum fuel) in household activities including cooking, baking, water heating, lighting, and conditioning.

  

The results of the survey indicated that 99.8% of households in the Palestinian Territory were connected to the public electricity network in July 2008; 81.6% of households use normal Electricity Meter, while 18.4% use Prepaid Electricity Meter. However, 68.2% of households in the Palestinian Territory utilize solar energy heaters.

 

The survey indicated that 14.2% of households in the Palestinian Territory used gasoline during July 2008; the average household gasoline consumption was 66.6 liters. The findings of the survey indicated that 88.7% of households in the Palestinian Territory used liquefied petroleum gas.

 

79.7% of households in the Palestinian Territory use conditioning facilities; 5.4% of households use electrical conditioner, 45.4% use fixed fans, and 75.5% use mobile fan.
