Arab Parliament Denounces Israeli Plan of Building new Neighborhood in Jerusalem


CAIRO, May 15, 2007, (WAFA)- The Arab Parliament denounced the Israeli approval on building 20, 000 housing units in the occupied East Jerusalem.

Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed al-Saqer, said in a statement last night, that such plan aborts the Arab efforts for achieving peace and stability in the region.

Al-Saqer added that in the time the Arab Summit, in Riyadh, presented the Arab Initiative, the Israelis approve a plan to abort it.

Speaker of the Arab Parliament asserted that the Israeli procedures in the occupied Palestinian Territory, including the building of the Apartheid Wall, contradicts the fourth Geneva Convention and the international human law.

He called on the UN Secretary-General and the international community as well as the international and regional Parliaments to seriously face the Israeli procedures which complicate the situation and dash the peace process into a dark tunnel.

The Israelis approved a plan on building new neighborhood consists of 20, 000 housing units, the matter will isolate Jerusalem from all Palestinian cities, including Ramallah, Bethlehem, and Jericho.
