Syria: Palestinian National Unity Key for Gaining Back Rights
DAMASCUS, May 10, 2007 (WAFA) - Syrian Vice President Farouk Al-Shara stressed on Thursday the need to boost the Palestinian national unity in order to guarantee the attainment of the Palestinian people's aspirations and legitimate rights.
Al-Shara's remarks came during his meeting today with Head of the Political Department of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Farouk Al-Kaddoumi.
The Syrian vice president underlined the necessity to enhance the Palestinian national unity to enable the Palestinian people regain their legitimate rights to return home and establish a sovereign state.
He also averred significance of taking practical measures to lift the unjust cordon imposed on the Palestinian people in line with the Arab and Islamic resolutions in this regard.
Furthermore, Shara reviewed with Kaddoumi the situation in the Palestinian territories and the efforts exerted to enhance national reconciliation and rebuild the PLO.
