IOF Attacks Peaceful Demonstration at Qalandia Checkpoint
RAMALLAH, May 1, 2007, (WAFA)-PLC member and member of the Democratic Front Politburo, Qais Abdul Karim denounced the Israeli Occupation Forces' brutal attacks on a peaceful march, organized by the General Federation of Trade Unions of Palestine on the occasion of May 1 Labor Day World, at Kalandia checkpoint in the West Bank.
In a press release on Tuesday, Karim voiced deep concern at the use of occupation forces gas, sound bombs and batons to suppress the demonstrators, at the same time condemning the unjustified arrest of deputy secretary of the unions Unity bloc in the West Bank, Mahmoud Khalifa, who was abducted by force from among the demonstrators, demanding for his immediate release.
Karim affirmed on the unity of workers of Palestine in the face of the occupation and its practices, pointing out that this march, in the face of crossing Kalandia, is a cry for the entire world to remove these barriers, which continue to isolate the citizen in general and workers livelihoods in particular.
He called on peace advocates and peoples of the world to support the rights of our people and working class, urging them to put pressure on their governments to remove oppression , occupation barriers and the wall and colonies and stop killing.
