RAMALLAH, May 3, 2026 (WAFA) — The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate said on Sunday that press freedom in Palestine is not a slogan but a daily struggle in the face of ongoing Israeli violations and attacks.
In a statement marking World Press Freedom Day, the syndicate said it stands by its national and professional responsibilities, recalling the sacrifices of Palestinian journalists who have paid a heavy price in defense of the truth under exceptional conditions where both word and image are targeted, and journalists are pursued simply for doing their job.
It added that journalists are facing escalating direct targeting, restrictions on coverage, detention, and killing while carrying out their duties.
The syndicate also held the international community and human rights organizations legally and morally responsible for ensuring protection for Palestinian journalists, holding perpetrators accountable, and ending impunity.
It concluded by affirming that Palestinian journalism will remain a voice of truth and that the will to live is stronger than all attempts at repression and silencing.
