RAMALLAH, Thursday, July 16, 2020 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today highlighted the new 419 corona cases in Palestine.
Al-Ayyam said 135 of the cases were in the Ramallah governorate.
Al-Quds said 115 cases were in Jerusalem.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted remarks by President Mahmoud Abbas saying that he will not spare an effort to protect Jerusalem and its residents and will not allow anyone to mess with its property.
It also said President Abbas called the father of a sick prisoner in Israel telling him that all efforts will be exerted to have him released and treated.
It also highlighted the exchange of letters between President Abbas and his Syrian counterpart, Bashar al-Assad.
It said members of the US Congress from the Democratic Party have called for ending the uned US support for Israel.
French parliamentarians have also called for sanctions on Israel if it proceeds with its annexation of Palestinian territory and for recognition of the state of Palestine, said al-Hayat al-Jadida.
Al-Ayyam and al-Quds have also reported on the same items but added also Israeli measures in the occupied territories such as demolitions and confrontations during Israeli army raids of towns in the Ramallah area.
Al-Quds said Israel ordered three Palestinians not to be at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and banned travel for one Jerusalem resident.
Al-Ayyam reported on the start of the new school year in Palestine on September 6 and said in another story that the issue of school tuition fees of private schools is still unresolved in light of families asking for a deduction in the fees due to closure of schools as a result of the coronavirus.
