Israeli forces detain seven Palestinians from northern West Bank

TULKAREM, Friday, June 19, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli forces dawn Friday detained at least seven Palestinians from the northern West Bank, said local sources and witnesses.

A large Israeli military force searched several houses, turning them upside down, and rounded up four Palestinians from Qaffin town, northeast of Tulkarem city.

Meanwhile, undercover Israeli forces, known as Musta‘ribeen, sneaked their way into Jenin city using a Palestinian-registered civilian vehicle, and kidnapped two Palestinians, who remained unidentified, from the vicinity of Khalil Suleiman Government Hospital.

Another Palestinian, identified as a resident of Jenin refugee camp, was rounded up from the vicinity of Salem military post, northwest of Jenin city.

A similar military raid was carried out in Qabatia town, where soldiers opened fire towards local youngsters attempting to bloc their passage. No injuries were reported though.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

According to Palestinian figures, roughly 5,700 Palestinians -- including numerous women and children -- are currently languishing in Israeli detention facilities.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
