RAMALLAH, Saturday, June 13, 2020 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas today congratulated his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on the occasion of their country’s National Day.
In his telegram to Putin, the President expressed his and the Palestinian people’s heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the Russian National Day.
"We are pleased to offer you, in the name of the State of Palestine and its people and in my name personally and through you, to your friendly government and people, the highest expressions of heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of your celebration of the National Day, wishing you, the Federal Republic of Russia and its friendly people continuing progress and prosperity,” said President Abbas, while praising Putin’s “success and wisdom” in leading Russia and its people towards controlling the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
President Abbas expressed his pride in the long-standing historical friendship between their two peoples and two countries, appreciating Russia‘s “consistent solidarity stances in support of our people‘s rights and just cause and their legitimate struggle for freedom and independence on the land of our Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
In a separate telegram to Mishustin, the President expressed his appreciation for Russia‘s “support and solidarity with our people in order to win their legitimate rights to freedom and independence on the land of our Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
