RAMALLAH, Friday, February 1, 2019 (WAFA) – At least 15 Palestinians were injured by live bullets and four others by rubber-coated rounds on Friday after Israeli occupation forces attacked a protest in the village of al-Mughayer, northeast of Ramallah, against repeated attacks by Jewish settlers on the village.
Soldiers opened fire and rubber-coated steel rounds to disperse the nonviolent protesters shortly after they performed Friday prayer in an open field near the village ahead of the protest.
The injured were moved to hospital for medical treatment.
Last Saturday, a Palestinian man from the village, 38-year-old Hamdi Naasan, was shot dead by extremist Jewish settlers from a nearby settlement who raided the village. The killers have ever since been free and were not arrested by Israeli forces.
Citizens of the village have also been organizing weekly demonstrations on Fridays in protest of Israel‘s attempts to take over a piece of land near the village for the benefit of illegal Jewish settlers.
In the meantime, Israeli occupation forces attacked with teargas two rallies in the villages of Ni‘lin and Bal‘in, west of Ramallah, against Israeli settlement activities. There were no reports of injuries in the two rallies, but there were cases of suffocation from teargas inhalation.
