President Abbas receives invitation to high-level conference on preserving humanity in war

RAMALLAH, September 10, 2026 (WAFA) –  President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine has received an official invitation from Jordan's King Abdullah II to participate in the high-level conference on "Preserving Humanity in War," scheduled to take place in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan  in December.

The invitation was delivered during Abbas's meeting on Thursday with Jordanian Ambassador to the State of Palestine Issam al-Badour at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.

The President welcomed the invitation and affirmed his commitment to attend the conference, asking the ambassador to convey his greetings and fraternal appreciation to king Abdullah II.

He also expressed his appreciation for Jordan's steadfast upport and continued efforts to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people and support their legitimate struggle for freedom and independence.

The conference is being organized by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in cooperation with Brazil, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and South Africa, the founding nations of the Global Initiative to Strengthen Compliance with International Humanitarian Law, and in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The conference aims to strengthen political commitment among states and governments to reaffirm the rules of war and strengthen respect for international humanitarian law, particularly in light of the armed conflicts the world is witnessing and the resulting suffering and severe humanitarian consequences.
