JERUSALEM, Friday, May 29, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli police and intelligence detained today the former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and current head of the Higher Islamic Council, Sheikh Ekrema Sabri, local sources said.
Intelligence and police officers raided Sabri’s home in occupied Jerusalem and detained him, before taking him to a nearby interrogation center.
Sabri, who often gives the Friday sermon at Al-Aqsa, was summoned by Israeli police in January and was handed an order banning him entry to Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam‘s third holiest site, in the city.
