Injuries reported in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, deaths in strikes in Syria

GAZA, Monday, February 24, 2020 (WAFA) – Four Palestinians were injured last night in Israeli airstrikes on several sites in the Gaza Strip, reported WAFA correspondent, and six people, including Palestinians, were killed in an Israeli strike on Syria, according to media reports.

WAFA correspondent said that a drone targeted a number of people in Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City, injuring four people who were moved to hospital for treatment and causing damage to the site.

Israeli warplanes also fired three missiles at a site to the north of the Beit Lahia town, north of Gaza, destroying it. They also targeted several areas in Rafah and Khan Younis districts in the south of the Gaza Strip causing heavy damage.

At the same time Israel was attacking Gaza, media reports said its warplanes were attacking different targets in Syria killing at least six people, including two claimed by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad as members of its organization.

Israel claimed the strikes on came in response to rockets fired by Islamic Jihad operatives in Gaza into southern Israel that did not cause any injury or damage.

The Islamic Jihad said it fired the rockets into Israel in retaliation against the Israeli killing yesterday of a Palestinian in Khan Younis and for the grotesque pictures of an Israeli army bulldozer mutilating his body as it dragged it on the ground while trying to snatch it.
