MUNICH, June 1, 2025 (WAFA) – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) fans used the global spotlight of the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday to voice solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, unfurling a banner that read "STOP GENOCIDE IN GAZA" shortly after Achraf Hakimi scored the opening goal in a 5-0 victory over his former club, Inter Milan.
Supporters also held Palestinian scarves and flags throughout the match, reinforcing their continued opposition to the ongoing Israeli genocide and resulting humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
PSG fans have repeatedly demonstrated against the Israeli aggression on Gaza. In November, they displayed a massive "Free Palestine" banner during a Champions League group stage match against Atlético Madrid.
Their message comes as Gaza enters its third month under an Israeli-imposed blockade, which has pushed over two million residents toward the brink of famine. The UN World Food Programme recently warned of widespread hunger and growing fears of mass starvation amid ongoing restrictions on humanitarian aid.
The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 2023 has so far resulted in at least 54,381 documented Palestinian fatalities, with over 124,381 others injured.
Thousands of victims are feared trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to Israeli attacks.
Israel's genocidal attacks continue unabated despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
