RAMALLAH, June 1, 2025 (WAFA) – The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported on Sunday that Palestinian prisoners held in the Israeli Megiddo Prison, especially minors, are suffering from systematic starvation and repeated beatings by the Israeli prison administration.
According to a lawyer from the commission, Fadi Ibrahim Shami, 24, from Nablus, has lost 22 kilograms since his detention on May 11, 2023, due to continuous deprivation of adequate food. He is currently awaiting a court session scheduled for June 22, 2025.
Meanwhile, minor detainee Qais Nasser Shehadeh, 15, was beaten multiple times during his transfer from Etzion detention center to prison. He was arrested from his home on April 20, 2025.
Another minor, Hamzeh Muheisen, 17, from Al-Arroub refugee camp, detained on the same date, is being held in Section 5, Room 11 of the prison. He also endured multiple beatings during his detention.
The lawyer also stated that the prison administration frequently reduces or denies outdoor time, which is legally set at one hour. Additionally, scabies infections are on the rise among prisoners due to poor hygiene, lack of proper ventilation, and minimal medical treatment. Food portions remain extremely limited, barely enough for survival.
