Weather forecast: Heavy heat stress continue to prevail

 

RAMALLAH, Monday, August 26, 2019 (WAFA) – The heavy heat stress is set to continue to prevail in most of the districts, paving the way to hot to very hot conditions in daytime and relatively hot conditions in nighttime, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Temperature is set to remain 3°C above the seasonal average. Wind is southwesterly to northwesterly and light to moderate with occasional gusts. Sea waves are low.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 32°C and a low of 22°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 30°C and a low of 21°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 42°C and a low of 28°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 31°C and a low of 24°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Tuesday’s temperature is set to slightly drop by 1°C with hot to very hot conditions in all districts in daytime and relatively hot conditions in nighttime.

A slight relief is expected in the heat stress on Wednesday, paving the way to relatively hot to hot conditions in daytime and fair conditions in nighttime, particularly in mountainous districts.

Thursday’s weather is partially cloudy to fair, relatively hot to hot in daytime and fair in nighttime, particularly in mountainous districts, with no significant change in temperature.

PMD warns people against prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, especially during the peak hours of the day from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm local time, and against setting fire to areas where dry grass has grown.
