RAMALLAH, Sunday, August 25, 2019 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Sunday issue on the story of a Palestinian from the occupied Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan who was forced to demolish his own home to avoid paying exorbitant fees if the Israeli municipality crews carry the demolition on their own.
The dailies said that after being pressured from the West Jerusalem Israeli municipality to demolish his own home or pay exorbitant fees if the municipality crews demolish it, Mohammad Abbasi started tearing down his own home.
On a different subject, the dailies said 1.310 million students returned to school today across the West Bank and the Gaza Strip as the new school year begins.
Al-Ayyam said the Israeli intelligence summoned yesterday the director of the Department of Islamic Waqf (Endowments) in occupied Jerusalem, Azzam Khatib, for questioning.
Al-Quds said the Israeli army deployed further reinforcements across the occupied West Bank for fear of new attacks targeting Israeli forces and settlers.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said eight Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli jails are continuing their hunger strike in protest of their illegal detention, without a charge or trial.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said a group of Jewish settlers attacked with stones several Palestinian vehicles passing at a main street to the south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.
