President Abbas meets Egypt’s el-Sisi in Sharm el-Sheikh

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Sunday, February 24, 2019 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas met on Sunday his Egyptian counterpart, Abdul-Fattah el-Sisi, ahead of the First Arab-European Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh.

The two leaders discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and in Palestine as well as ways to reinforce mutual relations between Palestine and Egypt and their peoples.

The president arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh on Friday at the invitation of el-Sisi.

Attending the meeting were PLO Secretary General Saeb Erekat, Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki, as well as Abbas’ advisor on diplomatic affairs Majdi Khalidi and Palestine’s ambassador to Egypt, Diab al-Louh.

Starting today, leaders and government heads of 28 European countries and 21 Arab states will be convening a two-day summit in Sharm el-Sheikh to discuss joint challenges and boost mutual cooperation opportunities.

This is the first ever platform that brings together the Arab and European heads of state and government to tackle the pressing issues, atop of which terrorism, organized crime and illegal immigration.
