West Bank under siege for third day as Israeli forces tighten restrictions across the region

RAMALLAH, June 15, 2025 (WAFA) – For the third consecutive day, Israeli occupation forces have continued to impose sweeping restrictions across the West Bank, severely limiting movement by reinforcing military checkpoints, sealing entrances to towns with iron gates and cement blocks, and escalating field closures throughout the occupied territories.

Ramallah and Al-Bireh

Military forces intensified their restrictions in Ramallah and Al-Bireh district, closing off the checkpoints of Ein Sinya, Atara, Aboud, and Nabi Saleh with metal gates. Additional closures were enforced at the entrances of the villages of Ras Karkar, Deir Ammar, Turmus Ayya, and Sinjil. The eastern entrance to Al-Taybeh was also closed.

Nablus

Access to Nablus remains heavily restricted as most village entrances are sealed and military checkpoints block both entry and exit. Meanwhile, forces fired stun grenades and tear gas at civilian vehicles at the Deir Sharaf checkpoint west of the city.

Qalqilya

The eastern and only entrance to Qalqilya remains closed, as are the access points to nearby villages including Nabi Elias, Immatin, and the Fandaq–Hajjah area. These closures, enforced via iron gates, have halted civilian movement and isolated residents from surrounding communities.

Hebron

In Hebron, Israeli occupation forces continue to seal the main entrance to Idhna, preventing access via the bypass road and cutting off all alternative routes. Northern and southern gates to the city remain closed. The entrances to other towns and villages in the province have also been tightly sealed off.

Jordan Valley

In the northern Jordan Valley, the Hamra and Tayasir checkpoints remain shut for a third day, obstructing civilian movement into and out of the region. The closures have disrupted the work of local farmers, blocking access to agricultural lands and preventing the transport of produce to markets.

The ongoing closures have paralyzed daily life across the West Bank, severely limiting mobility, restricting access to essential services, and impacting economic activity.
