Palestine draws against Syria in its first football game in Asia Cup

 

AL-SHARJAH, UAE, Sunday, January 06, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestine‘s first game in the Asia Cup football games against Syria on Sunday at al-Sharjah Stadium in the United Arab Emirates ended in a draw 0-0.

The Palestinian team played with 10 players in the last 20 minutes of the game after one of its players, Mohammed Saleh, was thrown out of the game after getting a red card.

Syria, the better team in this game, had four shots at the Palestinian goal while Palestine had zero shots, while Syria had possession of the ball 66% percent of the time compared to 34% for the Palestinian team, which played more defense than offense.

In other group games, Jordan beat the 2015 Asia Cup winner, Australia, 1-0.

Palestine‘s next game is on Friday against Australia.
