RAMALLAH, April 29, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared for the 27th time today, Tuesday, before the Tel Aviv District Court to answer corruption charges against him.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that Netanyahu "appeared in court for the 27th time since December 10, 2024."
The court convenes twice a week to hear Netanyahu's indictment on bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. Last week, Netanyahu's hearings were scheduled to conclude on May 7.
According to the decision, Netanyahu is set to appear in court on May 6 and 7.
Last Tuesday, Yedioth Ahronoth reported, "The judges in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's trial have authorized his attorney, Amit Hadad, to hold four additional sessions during the main testimony phase, which will conclude on May 7."
It added, "After the testimony phase concludes, Netanyahu's cross-examination will begin," without providing further details.
Netanyahu faces charges of corruption, bribery, and breach of trust in what are known as Cases 1000, 2000, and 4000. Former Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit filed the indictment in late November 2019.
Case 1000 concerns Netanyahu and members of his family receiving expensive gifts from wealthy businessmen in exchange for favors and assistance to these figures in various fields.
Case 2000 concerns negotiations with Arnon Mozes, publisher of the privately owned Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, to obtain positive media coverage.
Case 4000, the more serious, concerns favors granted to Shaul Elovitch, the former owner of the Israeli Walla news website and a former executive at Bezeq Telecom, in exchange for positive media coverage.
Netanyahu's trial in these cases began in 2020 and is still ongoing. He denies it, claiming it is a "political campaign aimed at overthrowing him."
