Six Palestinian citizens killed, others injured in Israeli strikes in southern Gaza Strip

GAZA, April 29, 2025 (WAFA) – Six citizens have been killed and others injured since dawn on Tuesday in the ongoing Israeli bombardment of the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis Governorate, south of the Gaza Strip.

This coincides with a catastrophic deterioration in the humanitarian situation, amid a severe hunger crisis with food shortages and water scarcity.

WAFA correspondents, citing medical sources, reported that four citizens were killed and more than 30 others were injured as a result of the Israeli bombing of the tents of displaced persons in the Al-Iqlimiya area, south of the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis.

Another citizen died from wounds he sustained a few days ago in Khan Yunis.

Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on the town of Al-Qarara, north of Khan Yunis, and north of Rafah. Artillery shelling also continues in the Al-Masdar area and east of Al-Maghazi, central Gaza Strip.

As the aggression on the Gaza Strip continues, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that the closure of all crossing points has led to the worst humanitarian crisis in the Strip since October 2023.

No humanitarian or commercial supplies have entered the Strip for more than seven weeks, the longest period of aid blockade since the beginning of the aggression.

UNRWA added that there is a growing scarcity of food, safe drinking water, shelter, and medical care due to the Israeli blockade, which has led to a significant increase in the prices of essential supplies. It noted that many medical supplies have already run out, and more are expected to run out in the coming weeks, with only 57% of essential medicines available in quantities sufficient for one month or less.

Medical services also suffer from a severe shortage of resources, with two-thirds of essential supplies expected to run out in less than two months.

The ongoing blockade also hinders the transfer of supplies from the south to the north of the Strip, further complicating humanitarian operations.

It is worth noting that 65,000 children have been hospitalized due to severe malnutrition, out of a total of 1.1 million children suffering from hunger every day.
