In its ongoing campaign against Kobar village, Israeli forces detain 11 residents

RAMALLAH, Monday, December 31, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained on Monday 11 Palestinians from the village of Kobar, northwest of the city of Ramallah, in an ongoing campaign against the Palestinian village, local sources said.

The army also sealed off an entrance to the village from the nearby Burham village, which was closed several times in the past and reopened by the residents.

Residents say the raids, detentions and closure of roads in the village are part of Israel’s collective punishment policy against the village after one of its residents was killed by the army in an ambush after he was accused of being behind a shooting attack against Israeli settlers in a nearby area.

The army killed Saleh Barghouti, 29, near Ramallah on December 12 in what his family said was extrajudicial execution claiming its son was arrested alive.

Saleh’s father, 66-year-old Omar, and a brother were arrested and are still in detention after a military court has extended their detention.

Meanwhile, soldiers raided early Monday a residence in Beit Rima, northwest of Ramallah, where Saleh’s  Barghouti’s wife, Shayma, was staying, according to local sources.

They said the army raided the house of Shayma’s father, Hasan Rimawi, searched it thoroughly and interrogated Shayma in a separate room.
