RAMALLAH, June 3, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Presidency condemned on Wednesday the Israeli authorities' announcement of their approval to build 2,162 new settlement housing units in the occupied West Bank.
The Presidency affirmed that all settlement activity is illegal under international law and does not confer legitimacy to anyone. It described the move as a blatant challenge to international law and UN resolutions, foremost among them UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which affirms its illegality in all occupied territories, including East Jerusalem.
The Presidency held the occupation authorities responsible for the serious consequences of these provocative policies, which will push the region toward further cycles of violence and escalation.
It called on the US administration to intervene immediately to stop Israeli aggression if it genuinely seeks to promote security and stability in the region and globally.
The Presidency stressed that the Palestinian people would remain steadfast on their land and committed to their legitimate national rights, affirming that such plans would not deter them from continuing their struggle until they achieve the independence of their state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
