Election Commission announces initial results of complementary municipal elections

RAMALLAH, July 30, 2017 (WAFA) – The Central Election Commission announced on Sunday the initial results of the complementary municipal election that was conducted on Saturday in 25 polling centers in the West Bank.

The commission said the final percentage of the vote was 63.6% of the persons entitled to vote in 14 local councils where the election was held. The total number of valid votes was 26,229, while the percentage of blank votes was 1.1%. The percentage of invalid votes was 2.5%.

According to the Local Elections Law, every voter and candidate or their representative has the right to challenge the results of the election before the competent court within one week from the date of the declaration of the results.

The court shall adjudicate the challenge within five business days from the date of submission.

Complementary elections were held on Saturday for the West Bank councils that did not participate in the general local elections held on May 13 for various reasons. Gaza did not participate in the local elections.
