RAMALLAH, July 19, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday detained at least 23 Palestinians and assaulted others mostly during multiple predawn raids across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, said Palestine Prisoner’s Society and Palestinian security sources.
Israeli police detained at least six Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem.
In the southern West Bank, Israeli troops detained three Palestinians after ransacking their family homes in Bethlehem district.
One of the detainees was reportedly detained as he attempted to cross Zaatara military checkpoint, south of Nablus, on his way back to Deheished refugee camp, south of Bethlehem.
Elsewhere in Bethlehem district, troops conducted separate raids into Marah Rabah village and Tuqu town, south and east of Bethlehem, detaining two Palestinians.
Israeli troops also detained two Palestinians during raids into the southern West Bank city of Hebron.
During subsequent raids into Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron city, troops detained a 17-year-old minor and searched at least one Palestinian home.
Meanwhile, Israeli troops conducted a raid into Nabi Saleh village, northwest of Ramallah.
During the raid, troops stormed a number of homes, including the home of Mahmoud al-Tamimi, who was beaten by troops and hospitalized for his injuries.
Troops also broke into two homes belonging to al-Tamimi family, assaulting family members and detaining two members.
The raid reportedly triggered clashes in the village, during which Israeli troops fired rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas canisters at youths who protested the raid and at homes.
Another Palestinian was detained during a raid into the neighboring village of Deir Ghassaneh.
In the northern West Bank, two Palestinians were detained from the town of Salem, east of Nablus city.
Two other Palestinians were handcuffed and detained as they attempted to pass a flying military checkpoint on Nablus-Ramallah Street.
One of the detainees was identified as Osama Salah, whose brother, Saad, 21, who was killed along with Aous Salameh, 17, during an Israeli military raid into Jenin refugee camp a week ago.
Troops also detained two Palestinians from the Qalqilya area.
