JERUSALEM, July 3, 2017 (WAFA) – About 35 Palestinians were injured Sunday evening when Israeli police and security forces assaulted a funeral procession outside Lions Gate in occupied East Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.
It said 35 people were treated for rubber bullet injuries and tear gas inhalation after police attacked participants in the funeral of an East Jerusalem resident who drowned in Lake Tiberius on Friday.
One person was reported in critical condition after a rubber-coated steel bullet penetrated his eye and caused him internal bleeding.
Ten of the injured were moved to hospital for medical treatment, while the others were treated at the scene.
The police intercepted the funeral after the participants raised the Palestinian flag, witnesses said, provoking the clashes.
