GAZA, June 19, 2017 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) strongly protested Monday Hamas harassment of reporters working in the Gaza Strip, including arrest of some and summoning of others.
It said in a statement that this harassment is threatening the work of the journalists, calling on Hamas to put an end to it.
Hamas operatives summoned on Sunday Hasan Jaber, Gaza correspondent for the Ramallah-based al-Ayyam newspaper, and released him several hours later after interrogating him, but ordered him to return for further questioning on Monday.
Palestine TV reporter in Gaza Fouad Jaradeh remains in Hamas custody after being summoned for questioning two weeks ago.
The PJS said it takes seriously Hamas harassment of journalists, calling on Arab and international bodies to intervene to force Hamas to stop harassing journalists and release those it have in detention.
