Suffocation cases in clashes with Israeli soldiers in West Bank

RAMALLAH, June 6, 2017 (WAFA) – A number of Palestinians Tuesday suffered from suffocation during clashes with Israeli forces in the Ramallah and Hebron governorates, said local sources.

Bilal Tamimi, anti-settlement activist, told WAFA that Israeli forces raided the village of Nabi Saleh, northwest of the city of Ramallah, where clashes erupted between village residents and Israeli soldiers who fired rubber bullets at Palestinian youths and teargas grenades towards homes causing suffocation cases, especially among children.

Tamimi said Israeli forces raided several homes and searched purposes.

Israeli forces also raided the village of Beit Ummar, in the governorate of Hebron, according to Mohammad Awad, a local activist.

Awad told WAFA that clashes broke out between Palestinians in the village and Israeli soldiers, resulting in dozens of citizens suffering from fainting and suffocation due to the toxic teargas grenades that Israeli forces fired at them.

Casualties were locally treated.

He noted that soldiers also detained four people, including a minor and his two siblings, who are also former prisoners, while giving two other citizens orders to appear before the Israeli intelligence.
